UW Research Group Screening 9/11 Film

On the seventh anniversary of 9/11, a Waterloo research group will screen a film that casts doubts on the official explanations of what happened.

The University of Waterloo 9/11 Research Group will host a screening Thursday night of The Reflecting Pool, a mostly fictional espionage thriller based on real research into 9-11.

"The characters are fictional, but the film is strongly reflective of what the real victims' families are going through," says Adnan Zuberi, group founder and president.

The Reflecting Pool chronicles the sleuthing of a Russian-American journalist who finds inconsistencies and an ever-deepening veil of secrecy surrounding the U.S. government's official story of what happened on Sept. 11.

The screening will be preceded and followed by comments from the UW 9/11 Research Group, a club of roughly 15 members who hosted a large conference on the subject last March, drawing an audience of 400 to Hagey Hall.

"What we do is promote interest, discussion and academic research into the events of 9/11," Zuberi says. "We're not putting forward conspiracy theories. We're not proposing any theories at all. We're just questioning the official story."

Admission to the 7 p.m. screening is $7.
